A Macon man was federally indicted with drug charges that carry a prison sentence of 10 years to life. After a year of investigation, research and negotiating, Attorney Robert Cabe managed to strike a plea deal that allowed his client around the mandatory minimum sentence, and also capped the highest possible sentence at 20 years. Mr. Cabe also successfully argued that his client’s “sentencing guideline” was substantially lower than originally expected. Finally, after presenting the Court with both a Sentencing Memorandum, and argument in court, the defendant received a sentence of only 12 months incarceration, credit for time served. The Defendant was released from jail only weeks later.
